We are presently creating a new feature for the Flynet Emulation Server that is
a Silverlight Terminal Emulation Client
The Silverlight Client for Flynet Emulation Server provides a highly functional
terminal emulator for the 3270, 5250 and VT220 target host profiles.
Included is the ability to upgrade data entry elements through pattern
recognition of preceeding text on a given screen. This enables codes and
other data entry text to be more easily selected by users.
The Flynet Emulation Server is a powerful Windows Server-based multi-threaded application that provides server-based connectivity services to IBM Mainframes, IBM i (AS400) and UNIX/VAX/VMS character-based terminal applications.
At present, a DHTML client is provided via ASP.NET web services and IIS on the server where the Flynet Emulation Server is installed. This client provides excellent responsiveness for an HTML application, but would benefit by having better client-side functionality not currently possible with HTML and Javascript alone.
The Silverlight Client for Flynet Emulation Server will use the same web services as the DHTML client, but in a Silverlight-hosted client environment. This will enable better control over fonts, dynamic resizing of the client area, keyboard interface and responsiveness when connected to a VT (UNIX/VAX/VMS) host, where keystroking and screen responsiveness are impacted in the DHTML environment.
